Our two-year-old cat, Cooper, is one of those cats who retrieves things for his people. He is fond of bringing me a sock, a sweatshirt, (clean or dirty...doesn't seem to matter to him) a shoe or a slipper. He also has an affinity for stuffed animals, which exist in great abundance at this daycare home. It is a common occurrence to awake to find that a Beanie Babies gorilla has mysteriously appeared in the middle of the living room floor...Not particularly harmonious with the rest of our decorating scheme!
Lately, he has become obsessed with a little stuffed blue bear wearing a red sweater. It is a decorative bear that is part of my Winter decor. Or, rather, that's what I thought. Apparently, Cooper has an entirely different idea of where the bear belongs...Several times a day, no matter how many times I return the bear to his basket of pine cones, Cooper drags him out! Sometimes he carries the bear to the middle of the living room, sometimes to the bottom of the stairs and sometimes all the way down to the daycare! One night in the dark my foot brushed against something soft in the middle of the upstairs hallway...the blue bear, of course!

She Was Just Grand(ma)
Yesterday my NaBloPoMo offering discussed my relationship with my family. Before I wander too far from the subject of family, I want to include my favorite lady in the whole world in my list of things for which I am thankful. Here on day 27 of National Blog Posting Month, I'd be privileged to introduce you to my Grandma Bessie.

Sweater Girl
Welcome to my daily post for NaBloPoMo! Day nine, and I'm doing just fine writing throughout the month of November about things for which I am thankful.
Tonight will be the first time since our weather turned cool that I want to dress nicely, (not in sweats) so it's time to lay eyes on my sweaters which I haven't seen since April. I love sweaters...I would wear a sweater every day if weather would allow. Not being a fashionista, I am content with my collection of classic style sweaters that suit my figure. Opening my sweater chest is like visiting old friends...

Traveling (Wo)man
NaBloPoMo day five and I'm still alive. Apparently, I am also a poet, but I don't know it...
Every day throughout November I'm writing about things for which I am thankful.Today, probably because I have been bitten by the "wouldn't it be nice to be somewhere else" bug, I would like to write about how thankful I am for having had so many opportunities to travel.

What's Cookin'? 9/15/07
I've got the week's menus planned so I thought I'd share with you once again some of the meals I'll be preparing for us at home this week...
Almond & Cornflake-Crusted French Toast (admittedly, it's not as good as at EJ's Lunchenette in NYC, but my at-home version is pretty darned good, too, if I do say so my darned self!), Apple Maple Chicken Sausage
Fried Chicken Salad & Marinated Fresh Mozzarella Garlic Bread
Fish Sandwiches, French Fries, Coleslaw
Enchiladas, Mixed Greens Salad
Homemade New England Clam Chowder, BLTs
Hot Dogs, German Potato Salad, Corn on the Cob
Bacon & Cheese Omlettes, Bagels, Mango
I'm loving the fact that our weather is cooling off a bit...it makes me think about a whole different array of foods and cooking methods. This is crucial inspiration for someone who cooks as much as I do!

New York State Of Mind
Let's start off the weekend with a smile...I snapped this photo on our way to breakfast on one of our New York vacations a couple years ago.
Those New Yorkers and their wicked sense of humor...!
I know an awful lot of people who would need some sort of horn cruise control if they blew their horn when they were experiencing anger...Otherwise, they would develop carpal tunnel syndrome (and none of the people I'm talking about are from New York!)
Wishing all a quiet, peaceful weekend.

We're Thinking Of You, Sophie
Sophie is our favorite NYC cat! She always helps alleviate our "kittysickness" when we vacation in the Big Apple. We truly appreciate how she makes her apartment feel like our home away from home!We hear she's ailing, and we want to send our best wishes to her and her Mommy Paula.
We love you both!
