Happy Birthday To My Sweetie!!!
Anyone who knows us, or has ever met us, or has read my blog knows how I feel about my Sweetie, Scott. So I won't be redundant by writing yet another loving testimonial to my husband on the occasion of his birthday. However, should your memory need to be refreshed, I highly recommend you check out these posts from the past:Sorry, Ladies, He's Taken
Fourteen Long Years...But Not Long Enough!
Synchronicity
Suffice it to say that I love my husband more than mere words can say and I want to express that sentiment to all the world on this particular day, his birthday.
Rather than reflecting (or lamenting) on how many years of one's life have passed, I believe that birthdays are for celebrating the person this day brought us.
So today I celebrate my life mate, my best friend and the person whom I admire most...coincidentally, they were all born on June 21!
Hey, You, I Love You!!!
If you'll indulge me in a little musical interlude, I believe this sums up my feelings on this special day and always...

My Two Dads
In honor of Father's Day, I want to pay tribute to the Father Figures in my life.
My own father, Jim, was the finest father I can imagine. Dad to seven of us, he taught us about family loyalty, love and laughter. I have already written the ultimate testimonial to Dad back in November when I shared a series of posts on things for which I am thankful. Read Daddy's Little Girl to discover this daughter's admiration for the first man in her life.
Although I lost my dad nearly eleven years ago, I am so very fortunate to have in my life another wonderful man I consider my father as well - Scott's father, Marty.

What's Cookin'? 6/7/08
I'm back on schedule posting the meals I've planned in advance for the week ahead. Although I also pre-plan and often utilize many of the same ingredients in meals for my daycare children, these meals posted here are the ones I prepare strictly for Scott and me. Here's some of what I'll be cooking for us this week:
Chicken Parmesan Sandwiches on Toasted Club Rolls, Garlic French Fries & Mixed Greens Salad
Pasticcio* & Wilted Spinach Salad
Cheese & Rice Casserole & Oven-Roasted Asparagus
Shrimp Fajitas & Tortilla Chips w/ Salsa & Refried Beans
Waffles, Chicken-Apple Sausage Links & Fresh Fruit
Chicken Burgers w/ Bleu Cheese & Bacon, Beer-Battered Onion Rings & Raw Vegetable Platter w/ Ranch Dip
Bacon & Cheddar Omlettes & Bagels w/ Garlic-Herb Cream Cheese
*Pasticcio - Thanks, Kelly, for recently reminding me of a dish I haven't made in years! Greek food rocks!

Lost (Manners) In The Supermarket
Submitted for your approval: Gina's Quote Du Jour 4/10/08
The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any. - Fred Astaire
I had no idea the talented Mr Astaire was so astute...
My Sweetie Scott found this quote quoted on Execupundit recently and he knew I would want to comment on it.
Scott knows how I feel about manners - or the lack of them. It's a common topic of conversation when I return home from battling the crowds at the grocery store or debrief after a day spent with the children in my daycare.
I usually come home from my weekly excursion to the supermarket completely frustrated with the state of humanity. What a collection of selfish, clueless idiots I encounter! That's all it takes...two hours among the general public to convince me that the human race is headed down the tubes...

One Of My Favorite Words 3/27/08
Today I'm revisiting an old friend...my Favorite Words series. The inspiration to write about today's word came from my Sweetie, Scott's recent post titled, Build Your Own Best Of - Steely Dan. His post is part of his series where he compiles a list of his personal choices for a Best Of collection of a musician's or a band's recordings.
I always have a running list of favorite words and this one has been on the list since its inception... Continue reading "One Of My Favorite Words ... »

Technical Difficulties...Please Stand By
This is a message to those who have been kind enough to leave a comment on my blog since March 7. For some reason, on that date I stopped receiving the email notifications of your comments. Although I've been aware of and even replied to some, I know I have not caught them all.
Ya know, I know a guy who is pretty good with the technical stuff, so I had him take a look at the situation. It baffled him as well that the notifications simply stopped. Everything was still set up properly...nothing had been changed. It's a technological mystery.
Today, I, of all people, solved the mystery! You know how it often happens that you find something you've lost when you're not even looking for it? That's how I did it! I happened to open my junk mail folder (which I do no more than three times a year) and "Ta da!" There were the notifications slumming it among the offers for, uh, male enhancement drugs and replica watches...neither of which I want - or need - thank you very much.
But I do need my comments and I am ever so glad to have located them! I am going to find some time to read through them and reply to everyone who was nice enough to take an interest in what I've been writing these past few weeks.
I am awfully sorry that this happened, although I'm quite sure it was none of my doing. I hope no one has been dissuaded from visiting because you thought I'd ignored you.
Scott is perplexed as to the why, but he's glad the comments have been found, too. It pains me to think of your squeaky clean comments in such seedy company, so I hope he can figure out how to get them back in my inbox. In the meantime at least I know where to look!
I will be replying to everyone...oh, except for Kwong Wolfersheim. No, no, a thousand times, no, I am NOT interested in reading about "A breakthrough in male growth" - so stop spamming me!!!

While My Ukulele Gently Weeps
The truth be known, I am probably every bit as opinionated as he when it comes to music...I just don't feel I have the "cred" to back it up, so I generally keep my mouth shut...
Today all that changes.
I have - for the first time in my life - mustered the nerve to proclaim my own choice for...
The Greatest Song Ever Written...
