As Time Goes On
It never ceases to amaze me how the same period of time can seem simultaneously like an eternity and the blink of an eye.
Such is the case with the last sixteen years. Continue reading "As Time Goes On" »

A Palate Cleanser
I have been searching for the road back to blogging after my last post which was a tribute to our wonderful AbbeyCat who passed away last week leaving a hole in my heart.
Well, I want to thank Courtney T. who hails from our neighbor to the north, Montreal, Canada, for providing the perfect absurdity to follow up such an emotional outpouring.
Courtney, you are better than an icy cold lemon sorbet - ahh...refreshing!

License To Bitch!
Here's my sticker as proof...

So if I understand this correctly, now I reserve the right to complain?
Good to know because you all know how I go on and on and on...
And now I have the right to do so with impunity.
I'm so proud to be an American.
Some Election Day Perspective
Look what I found recently in my box of "treasures" I collected around my house when I was a kid!

No matter what happens at the polls today, just remember, it could be - and has been - worse...
So vote with pride. That's as political as I get.
*This reflects nothing about my political opinions but says a great deal about my sense of humor.

Happy Halloween from 2005!
I'm not always a Halloween Grinch...
Some years I've even been creative!
Behold my original creation...WitchCat!

And of course Upside Down WitchCat.

I'm just not feeling it this year.
Happy Halloween to all you who can get into the "spirit" of the day!

George On My Mind
George Carlin and I share a birthday - well, the day, not the year. That fact has always made me feel a special kinship with him, as fellow members of the May 12th Club. It's silly, I know, but I feel the same connection to Emilio Estevez, Katherine Hepburn, Yogi Berra, Burt Bacharach, Tom Snyder, Stephen Baldwin, Bruce Boxleitner, Billy Squier, Gabriel Byrne, our dear friend Stacy and, of course, Florence Nightingale. It never ceases to amaze me how much I have in common with each and every one of these intelligent, charming and talented people!
George has been among my favorite comedians - and public people - all my life. What a multi-faceted talent! His blend of sharp, insightful and fearless comedy makes me laugh and think simultaneously. He is responsible for a large part of my sense of humor and world view. It should come as no surprise that he appears on the guest list for my fantasy dinner party along with a plethora of other fascinating people.

Too Cute! 6/3/08
Today's installment of Too Cute! is compliments of the two-year-old girl in my daycare. She is extremely verbal, even considering her age and gender! We commonly have riveting conversations, so I am accustomed to her being able to express herself with great facility.
But today she just made me laugh... Continue reading "Too Cute! 6/3/08" »

My Glamorous Profession
Being a daycare provider, I hear many interesting things come out of the mouths of the children for whom I care. Recently the children have provided an abundance of verbal gems! I thought they'd make fun reading for a Monday. Continue reading "My Glamorous Profession" »

Too Cute! 3/6/08
I seem to have a never-ending supply of cute quotes from my little daycare children!
In today's installment of Too Cute! we find a three-year-old girl playing with a doll and combing her hair. Apparently, the doll's hair was tangled - in knots - if you will.
With a determined look on her face and comb in hand, I heard her declare, "She's got nuts in her hair!"
