Yes, that is a photo of what used to be our front window. The ladder fell against our picture window pane. I cannot express the panic that went through my mind and body at hearing that
CRASH of breaking glass right into our living room! The mind reels at such an event...am I angry, scared, furious, surprised, mad, concerned, pissed-off, worried or perhaps all of the above with a chaser of inconvenienced? After a while it settled into a nice case of shock. There's no sense getting stuck on angry...stuff happens and well, what can you do but take care of it... Or in this case, have our DirecTV technician take care of it.
The technician was obviously as surprised as we were and immediately took action to remedy the 'problem' he caused. He was on the phone to his supervisor within moments and on his way to Ace Hardware with our storm window frame shortly thereafter. I think he was just glad that we weren't mad at him.
Here's the view through our missing pane.
Oh, wait! There it is! I've never picked up or even seen so much shattered glass in my life! There was glass
everywhere and I'm sure we'll be finding more for weeks to come!
The situation was resolved within three hours of the dramatic event. The technician brought back a friendly Ace Hardware glazer to install our inside pane. They cleaned up well and if you didn't know, you may not be able to tell that anything happened at all.
Sigh.
Then I made dinner and the weirdness wasn't over yet...
Is it a strawberry?
Is it a tiny red pear?
It just struck me funny that this radish had such an odd shape. Maybe after the excitement of the day, I would have found anything amusing...and besides, the camera was already out...

The weather was not too cold that day, so I guess it could have been worse after all!
Really, the technician was very good at handling an unfortunate situation. We couldn't have expected more than he did to remedy the "problem."
It's all fixed - good as new. No blood was shed and no cats escaped! Thank goodness!
Sssshhhhhhhhhh-PING!
On the plus side, the glazier left his hammer behind by mistake. This old, beat up yellow hammer is still the main one we use now, despite having better ones around.
Stolen hammers work better, I guess.
Thrilling things like that happen, and at least you got a hammer out of the ordeal!
Thanks for visiting...I hope you'll read me again but under less dramatic circumstances.
I think I also have some old tools someone left behind. My gain, there loss I say lol
How can I score some second-hand tools so I can get me something for my trouble next time something like this happens?
