I don't like spiders, either. One notable exception, a large yellow and black "banana" spider took residence outside my picture window in the breakfast room when we lived in Lake Charles. She was so beautiful and she wove an intricate web like the one you've captured in the pictures. We watched her grow from little to big enough to call the bug guy. Her leg span was almost as big as my hand. And do you know, when the bug guy came, he didn't kill her, he toted her away to parts unknown in a jar, with web parts attached.

I'm still marveling over Elle's comment above and that enormous spider she described. Your list is impressive. At least I can figure out what's what on it! And it is definitely close to spider season here. I've seen my first orb weaver, and will watch it grow like so many of the others that we'll begin to see. Damp autumn mornings are just around the corner!
