Day seven of
NaBloPoMo is here. I have committed to blog once a day through November on the subject of
things for which I am thankful...
We had to fire up the furnace for the first time this season two nights ago. It occurred to me that, as nice (and necessary) as it is to have heat in the cold weather, there is one thing that is even more essential to keeping me functionally comfortable.
I am thankful for (and don't believe I could survive Summer without)
air conditioning!

I mean, I can always throw another blanket on the bed or layer on another sweater. Once I'm down to skin, though, what else can I remove when I'm sweltering in Summer's heat and humidity?
In a humid climate like here in Illinois, my tolerance for heat is virtually nil. Once the temperature is over 70 degrees, I start to become aware of it. I get lethargic...my body and mind want to shut down. It doesn't take a lot of humid heat to make me feel like I can't breathe. I don't even want to try to imagine what it would be like to function without air conditioning...I would just fold!
