Here I am on day three of
NaBloPoMo where I have taken on the challenge of writing about
things for which I am thankful each day of November.
Today I am actually busily engaged in the activity for which
I am thankful. I am cooking...
a lot.

I found myself with a Saturday mostly to myself and a refrigerator full of possibilities, so I got busy. I love to go where cooking takes me, so it was the best way I could think of to fill my solitary hours.
I am thankful that I have been blessed with the interest and some ability to create good food. Cooking fulfills me on so many levels...
As a creative outlet. Like a kid with crayons, I love to make pretty flavors. Sometimes I stay in the lines, and sometimes I don't. It's all good, though, and usually colorful.
As a meditation. Through the act of cooking, I am transported to a very focused, calm place in my mind. I call it the cooking zone. I like it there.
As an act of caretaking. I love taking care of myself,
Scott and the daycare children by cooking delicious and nutritious food. I appreciate having the opportunity to feed both the body and soul.
As homemaking. The aroma of foods cooking make our house smell like home. Home should feed all our needs.
As an opportunity to educate myself. I learn so much about flavors from around the world, various cuisines, cooking methods and cultures by learning about food. Through food, I have learned about a part of our humanity that we all share the world around.
I am thankful to have cooking as such an important part of my life, and that I have the resources, time and energy to pursue this life-affirming activity.
